Laughing at ones-self and Drago Noka

One step at a time, right? baby steps.

Ok thankfully you don't have to read through each of the gimps (laptop) crazy word/sentence smashes before I then go back and iron out again. Having nothing else for it, A fair bit was done in the online Minecraft World I have found myself stuck in of late.

I have been working rather diligently on a village I have dubbed Meepsburg. The village originally had 2, just two, villagers, with about maybe 4 buildings when it was first come across. A tiny little fishing spot situated between three biomes, with a huge rift right through the middle of the space. Farmers attempting to use the farm plot where falling into the rift.. which was a crack n the lands surface created by a nearby volcano who had, some years before the village, settled into pumping a constant and consistent flow of lava into the underground caverns.

The first thing on the agenda therefor, was to somehow make the hill safe to travel on. Once fences were up and the remaining villagers, were prevented from joining prev neighbors at the bottom of the narrow cliffs and into the vast underground network of caverns, work was started on development. Houses were erected, A small smithy was created, a safe crop farm was put in place and a storage room was shoveled out of the hill.

Over time, the village grew and became a town. It developed a bit of an import/export business on one side..

District 1 brought forth an abundance of food and wood created in the rich soil. on the other side,

District 2, known area-wide for its desert market, and offering bounties of its rich underground minerals mining trade.

The main village and hub of the now bustling town had developed its paper trade and a port, where most of the seafaring traders docked. At the end of the refurbished dock, was an eclectic inn and tavern, situated near the lighthouse..A hot spot for sailors and merchants to relax away the evening hours. Near the storage room, is a tall building, occupying the rift area, which houses the alchemists, cartographer, and potions/brewing room (serving both the inn and the market). This effectively replaced the town's previous all-things-magical witch's tower of previous times, located on the hill. Its a serious wonder the dilapidated building is still standing having outlived its owner long ago.

There has also been discovered a new old offline portal to a place called Drago Noka. Its a splendid little builder with what has to be the most confusing set of directions and how-tos(there are few to no how-tos or help for this one) on.. just about all of it but the theme story... living on the back of a turtle dragon. I am going to have to show you the notes I have gathered at some point, on this one, as it is a terrific little building game, and worth the effort, i think, to make a basic tips and useful help page for the entirely lost, like i have been..😆

Drago Noka

If you are trying to play the game and are lost, Hope these tips help as there isn't a whole lot of information out there and there doesn't seem to be at all in the game. I have heard that Switch is really the platform to play this game effectively on.

ok.. finding things out as i go along.

There is no Mouse support so I have to use the keyboard. This is my setup.I will use these keys to explain how to find and do things in the game.

C on the keyboard is set to "confirm". this key lets you talk to the villagers. C will open a chest/box and will also move -one item- in a stack into or out of the chest

X key is "sub" it will 'use' your tools..(which are on numbers 1-9 +0.) also X will, when looking in a box, move -all- of a stack into or out of the chest inventory. X and arrow keys together will roll/drag ore.

Z will 'Cancel' and it will open 'options' menu. giving you (along with use of the arrow keys) access to your notebook saves, tools, building, management, housing etc. menues. Z will also list villagers and Mimimi's general tasks/request lists.

Q and E will cycle through your hotbar of tools.

Arrow keys are used for walking direction and choosing something on the game's options wheels.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The drill is hard to figure out. Set it up outside, wait for the -full- count downto end. then remove drill and add stairs. (from the build menu) Going Further down? cant use the drill, need to find a hole..somewhere near to a glowing mushroom maybe?

Moving ore. click and hold 'confirm" C and a direction arrow, while standing next to the ore,(your attention box on the ore.) You can then either push it forward in front of you, or 'carry' it to the side, or back. Push it to the stairs where it will then bounce into your inventory.

Also, try to remember, with most workbenches, there are two menus. If your wanted inventory item is missing from the one list, tap the 'Sub'/special X key to hopefully see the other.

Mostly don't fret about Grant (there is no time limit).. just don't forget the dragon-turtle. He needs food for growing and strength. the more processed it is, the better it is. His likes and dislikes change. so keep an eye on that. His nearness to other dragons and giants causes 'weather' to happen, in the form of rain, rocks, clay, and trees. special plants will sometimes appear... and bugs or 'pests' show up, like butterflies. If you see them, 'strike at' or 'catch' them, then use them with the mortar n pestle to refine them into element powder.

Need a nearby pool of water to refill crop waterer. Put your attention box over water (with the waterer in hand) and 'confirm' to fill.

To get refined Iron you must have built a blast furnace.(use the 'build' and special menus located with the 'cancel' Z button. same place that you have walls, roof, and flooring listed)

Be sure to leave a free space or two in your chests.. as over time, free items are dropped off in them.

Healing potions take a mortar and pestle 'workbench'(to powder) as well as a test tube set (to liquefy) Needs be of the same rarity.

Wood or cotton wool powder etc for lvl 1 sickness

mushroom powder for level 1-2

glow mushroom powder for up to 5.

Dont forget to toggle normal/specialty ('sub' X key if needed.

Horrible typing and a frustrating laptop.

My little laptop, the gimp that it is.. Has a strong dislike for the space-bar..and the letters n, o, g, and e. so if those are missing or omitted in this post, sorry now, on my laptop's behaf. if, on the other hand, its a letter replacement or booboo. Thats my sad typing skills. ok, that having been said,...

Dunno if i said it before or not but.. theres a pause.. a slight relief from the glaring red eyeball of living with a moving roof and feeling lucky at that... its been cold out, a "no-duhh" is placed here in time for the holidays. Christmas came and went... and here comes the new year. wee. (sarcasm intended). Its a dad-by-day struggle... with no light at the end of the tunnel... because it can't be afforded... kind of like food, these days. getting scarcer by the week.Makes you really apreciate the little things. Dinno where I'm gunna be this evening...nevermind tommorrow. But enough about me.. Lol!

Not a whole lot else going on, really. My portal use is sketchy at best... but at least before christmas, i amused myself enportal, naturally, by throwing things into the cc chests in spawn. took the time, and exp use, to make sure a new person would find them useful. dunno that they went to anyone else or not but i guess thats how it goes. i probably just annoyed a few shopkeepers by giving them a bit less potential business. ..but then i too have been annoyed by a shopkeeper i trusted, underselling me, and not mentioning me when they could have as i have done them before. so.. i guess its a little passive-agressive of me...and likely its all on my side anyway. in my everyday bid to staywanted and busy, I have once more taken to prompting the villagers in my new town project to, become a bit more productive... and davey jr is still refusing to choose a profession. I'm starting to think he should be donning the geen robes of the village idiot class... but he wont take so much time for even that.I managed to rework the waterall, after the Disappearence of the farmer up there. made ita bit safer.. i think. Dunno though.. i did retrieve the new farmer from the cliffside the other day.... not sure just how he got on the ledge. I added a gate onto the overlook, and brought in the donkey.. who aparently had been waiting for me. patiently, i might add. Surprized me. I didnt have to go far at all. Well he's in a bit of safety now anyway. Ifhis friend, the horse is still out there, the next time i look, I'll bring him in as well.
I need to buildsome nice walls around the place they are better than the fences... but, im not real confident i can make them worthy... so i havent tried as yet. I did try to remake a villager house but...its the usual boxy thing..so i stopped at the first floor.
my excuse is, im waiting for the end to the annoying undead minion that keeps showing up to command my attn. They are I'm told, leaving on the 2nd. Hope I'm still able to work on things then. Im tired of boxes really. I see such amazing places.. and I just cant get past the basic box. I think I'm getting bored of feeling alone, again. How does that guy do it? years and years of working on one thing.. for no real reason. no real gain. like... a disapearing cloud. no matter how hard you work atit, trying to make it a masterpiece.. its still.. is nothing but vapor. I dont get that. I really dont. and.. why cant i just Do stuff like i always have, why is it so different now? hmm... feels a bit like i'm peering into that big can of worms again..

i had thoughts of maybe posting a text version, with screenies, of personal roleplay stories and lore type stuff... but yeah, no... its more of that same vapor feeling. who would read it? why would it even matter? hell, my old webpages got more attention. and that was back when skills in basic html put you a little closer to the 'worth looking at' tag,.. that doesnt seem to exist for me anymore. feeling my age, i suppose. lol :D shades of self-worth...or self-confidence .... or the lack there of. it doesnt matter. i know this.and yet, i agonize over it all anyway.

Encountered a bit of an issue earler today.. someone had stated a rule of 'no personal info'. Now, I do actually agree on princible. not only should it be a good policy to practice, but it is especially so with underage folk. but while, i certainly know not to be sharing identfiable stuff, address, ph no, and such, i have not heard, nor seen at this place, such a particular details. so, it is with some surprise and with a fair bit of embarrissment to get called on one of those particulars. (shaekes head saddly) amazing. well, i am better informed from here on out, and as such, i have attepted to apologize for what was otherwise a simple guessing game in whch i was hardly alone.. but was the one 'caught'. I should have somehow known better. One thing could have easilly lead to another, I suppose. and its best I should not have engaged at all, even given my hesitation. perhaps the fellow reading the riot act was from purple. hehe perhaps its a good thing I have no real desire to join the portal's team of helpers. I am too much of a rogue for them, anyways.

Did I just lose you that last? sorry bout that. Tmi, rght? Lets just go on to other thngs.

might try to catch up (hahahaha!) in duolingo... ohh that was funny *wipes tears of laughter*

considering a few semi fav games, like timberborn or a return to rimworld.

March Marches On

Not much to say about the new year for me (being 3 mos in., but for... more of the blehks.... years worth of blehks. Not really the best time for a portal user to be paying attention. yepyep.. thats about it. sooo... in a sudden panic, i headed for the nearest escape portal and ...

ok, at first, only the bare bones basics gave me anything to hold onto... pretty open world... which i really like... but things quickly became most confusing.. there really wasnt much explained.. the horridness of which was where do you get all the 'currency' it was asking for. like the, objects you needed to give to the statues to level them up.... and what happens should you actually manage to do so... and what about weapons? how do you get better? defense?.. is there such a thing? lots of questions.. after a little bit, i put it down and returned to portals i better knew for a time... but now I'm back, and already much is improved. several questions have been answered.. others are still out there. but i have hope i'll get them figured out before too long.

Genshin Impact

free to play but for the things called wishes and such. a bit heavy on the graphics but sooo awesome! theres a fair bit to do... and quite a bit of room to do it in as well. its a big place. you have an option between 2 siblings who become seperated at the start of the intro. you then meet other characters 3 of which you add to your party. each one has thier own unique skills.. and you can quickly switch between them to best effect. there are quests to get through.. puzzles and badguys.. and random chests with useful treasure and food to gather. Thus far i have spent considerable time running here to gliding there peeking into every glade, along every shore and into every tree just to see what all there is. the monsters will present a good chalenge when encountered, no matter the level you might be. Experience and coin can be found within quests, as well as just being out there, pickin up foods, cooking, talking to npcs, questing, learning the history.... in the cities, towns and the countryside. you can learn alchemy, cooking recipes, the benefit of artifacts, you can check out the tourist shops, your local adventurers guild, or ..something about furniture? or just run or glide about untill you stumple upon a storyline to follow. just have a care for the weather. it's well worth it to check out if you have a computer that can handle it.

Nappy yew Hear!!

here it is.. 2020(yet again..as well.. also) are we stuck in a loop? is it a groundhog day like the movie? first we had 2020, then we had 2020(once) and now here it is 2020(too) once again. sure hope we get whatever it is right this time.

This year i got a gift or two, one of which was access to finally get to play the Sims 4. I had been really looking forward to this. all the new options i had head about! now, by this time, i would hope that, if you have been following along here, you might have some idea just how much i lothe games who profess to be offline games yet really are online ones.. some being worse than others. unfortunatly for me, im not able to remain online forever.. i lose connect due to issues with the provider, with repair folks, with a job, or other means of income. I liked how it once was, when I was able to spend some of that forced downtime playing a game i enjoy, untill i could get back online. why are game makers changing that? gone are the days you could buy a game, take it home, plug it in and ready for play! now a-days even if the game is still the same in essence, but you have to be on-line to play it? another play-around with copy protection?
I can apreciate the need to get online for updates and such, it makes sence. but the Sims has taken that 'you need updates' to a whole new level. not only do you need a connection to the net to start the game, but you need to be on steam, and you need to be constantly on the whole time you are playing. its shtupieeed! so now, not only can i not count on the sims for play-anytime but i have half a doz hoops to jump through everytime i do play. (and all this besides the growing price for new content.)makes we wonder if its worth it to even try... the Sims 4 may just be my last actual sight of the game series.
the Sims is not an mmo... it wasnt created as such... I guess it -could- be.. with enough changes... but thus far, it isnt. much like some great games of the recient past. or some in the present who should be... but thats a whole different gripe.

Thus far anyway.. ol Minecraft's offline play is still possible... but they have made it less obvious. I actually had to search under 'new version connections' to find the offline play link. Now that they have 'moved over' to Microsoft.. its startin to look to me, it wont be long before we are going to have to pay per month to be allowed past the launcher screen. Dumb move Mojang. Not only that but all in the name of what was it you said? security? Microsoft? security? bhahaha! you must be kidding me! security for who? certainly not for us... the consumers. you been living under a big rock this whole time if you think Microsoft is secure for us. was this supposed to be another one of those 'for the greater good' things? more like one of those 'to good to be true' things, if you ask me.

and speaking of thought-provoking gripes... Mass Formation Psychosis. Get past all the fribbin hate! I'm just sayin...

nuff'said. XD

*Gingerly steps off the "polo-ticks" soap-(gritty kitty litter)-box*

Within the portals of minecraft, life goes on... I'm lonely.. so its to the online world i go.. where I have to wait... for, as usual, the mods to catch up. -sigh- I wanna see all the new land styles, wanna learn where all the ores have gotten to.. and i have to wait, when do we get to see it already? by the time they all catch up, the ninny warden is gunna be in the dark deep! I hate waiting! and I dont wanna have to run into the big ugly just to catch sight of all the cool new landscapes! the warden isn't even here yet, and already has been banned off my single player. Gunna have enough trouble just getting around the new changes, don't need another mega-mob to run into. the deepdark is scary enough. blehh *taps fingernails on the desk grumbling*

Maybe its the kind of day... thus far this weekend, its been Freezing out! *cuddles in blanket* a weekend cold snap anyone? and we just had a lot of rain too.. I was totally hoping for a little snow to help give a reason for all this cold...but noo....
this is best known in the south, as a weather phych. Mother Nature is just building us up to phych us out. threatening to do something horrible, nasty, and downright mean.. only to laugh at the last second as the sun comes out and dashes away all of the clouds before noon.

Yepyep... still here.

Happy 1st of the end of the year.

its December. almost hard to believe its going on a year..2022. This blog has been squeaking along since 2005 at its usual pokey pace. amazing.

Feeling strangely idle this morning, thus far..like I need another new hobby or something. maybe revisited in homedge to the past. (grin) like old games or something. like ...

old Diablo. the content was adventursome, i suppose.. but it was my first game with such detailed graphics as it had. or like

"the zoombinies".. for which you needed to use yer thinking cap for. or really old games,

like "wizardry!" where my party, with ample imagination, such as I have, developed their own conversations and personalities, like indy the flatnose (forever running into walls) or Synshae the wanna be.. Bishop! or online games, such was

Everquest2 and ol Ratakin and his "by the seat of yer pants" aproach to living in a treed Fairy town. (that he was forever falling out of),

Asherone's Call, whose graphics was 'really dated', but where My character Indy) yeas, her again) developed a server-wide reputation for most deaths, thought she could fly but couldnt, and whom had a -total fear of the little pixies-. (especially those black one's who were just pure evil. or maybe the popular

Warcraft, with the minotaurs, the blue aliens, and the amazing lands of the panda! Or a revisit to still relevent

Mabinogi.. whose story is packed with adventure, storylines, and fun times with friends, life skills, fighting skills, and new costumes for your character to parade around in... lookin so smart! or maybe 'newer' games, like

"Rimworld", who isnt big on the graphics part of it, But! is jam-packed with appeasement of the 'sims' end of gaming. watching the drama unfold around your lil colonists. so fun! ...no I'm not joking! Rimworld is fun!. its like a poorman's sims game with adventure and learning new things all mixed in for your characters. or

"Timberborn", a building game, whose townships are run by Beavers. or maybe the latest in cool games I enjoy, like

"cat goes fishing." which is.. exactly as its name implies. somehow it manages to be simple and entertaining as well, to me. a total gem of a game. And theres Always

Minecraft, who just updated to expanded 1.18... its a whole bigger world! taller, mountains, snowier snow, Goats! and deeper caves, more minerals, danger, and Axelotls! and a shout-out to the hermits for their seasons creation and upbeat versions of life and times in the world of Minecraft, keeps me ever-happilly waiting for the next episode on youtube. Ty Impulse, Cubfan, Scar, Pearl, Mumbo, and FalseSymetry! you and the whole rest of the gang are tops!

The day and Age

Ah the foibles of life. These days, with all thats going on here and across the globe, its hard not to get all caught up and wigged out about what yesterday, was no big deal, today is all about a big deal. seems like just when you get one thing figured out, everything changes and you find yourself having to scramble to catch up on it all again. and in one aspect, I feel its just too much and why am i trying so hard.. and in another, I feel I should be trying harder, or my expectations are gunna rear up of a sudden and I'm gunna be drowned in them again. (thereby, making no real sence at all, even to me.) I detest running into my own expectations. so, let me start again with something I'm a bit more comfy with.. even as things around me keep getting in the way.

An update with Minecraft.. and whats comin up. 1.17 thus far is a few really nice changes.. new blocks, new mechanics. and the usual lack of direction from yours truely... meaning myself. with the second part, being 1.18 showing sneak peaks along the way toward the end of the year.

I stepped into a new portal... for the second time... and somehow got to meet some pretty cool friends. I have been much like the times.. a bit chaotic. time of month, alergy sneezes and stuffed thoughts, full of muzzy cotton. ..paranoia and fear... and not watching out for my own facts of reality. I have been showing my lows, and been more than a little frightened of things that i am looking forward to, will ring hollow... and thus far.. theyre still there, these friends. (arn't they?)
I started in the nearest town.. straightening out roads, and farming areas... not realizing someone else had already laid claim. I saw the town fizzle and villagers disapearing.. and then roaring back of a sudden via replenishment of a creative admin. i learned about.. and am still learning about just what it means to have a lack of mob griefing. I have tried to move across the swamps and dark oak.. using my idea of a nether hub for ease of transport. and got a slightly better connection I am none too sure i should be trusting.I settled into a small village of cedar and spruce.. trying to keep things small scale hoping it will keep the lag monster from chewing on my ankles. I then created a bridge, spanning the very ocean to reach another village i had 'adopted'. the bridge is still not completed. but the new village became more of a town sitting on the edge of the new updated plains.. and a geode was found there, along with several new blocks I am hoping will soon become a bit more versitile, stairs, walls, and slabs.

my spruce home has become a place of all new underwater activity, with the axeys and the glow squid... and the drowned. I became interrested in the ruins in the water and have spent considerable time enjoying the benefits of a conduit I placed down there...temporarilly, I told myself, and up until a day or so ago, was still saying. I descovered the properties of copper and its value as lightning rods, shocking as it was. (pats down frizzled hair) somehow i got them up just in time. and am now thinking there must be a way to make a few new houses, in between what already exists... and yet there is space uphill I have done not a whole lot with. I did put up a wall, at last, on the land side anyway... since the woods are full of zombies and skelis. still considering tree houses.. even as I dont wish to copy anothers idea.

ahead of us, there is both aprehention and joy for the new dynamics of the coming update. caves and cliffs part 2. With monsters only being able to spawn in complete darkness.. and my adversion to said darkness...and ample use of torches and fences... should be welcome, with the expansion of the world.. bigger caves, getting in the way of my mining style. *grumble* and shivers for the new wardon I hope I will somehow be able to mentally surmount like i have the enderman.

I am learning more about how to fly.. with the rockets..(so halfhazzardly) and swim..with the dolphins.. and that lovely conduit. I got to meet someone who is much like me in creative building.. and seems a bit more sympathic to my foibles. I feel I have learned a lot.. to the point I feel i need to write it down, lest I forget it all. I am slow, I have realized, with building and projects. Very slow... and weeks with just being content not to do much of anything.

That reminds me, i have yet to see 'the hubby's' lightnouse build on that lonely island. I wonder but wont ask the question in mind.. these days, its just better not to risk getting into it. Wish I could remember that bit of sage advice when I feel the impulse to howl at the wall. Either back it up or shut it up... problem is how to 'back it up' when the news and truth, mixed with nontruth and lies, is all over the place?

Its the day and age of rage.

edit: boy, has it ever. Someone who's friendship I valued, turned out to be toxic and quite hateful toward me... came out of the past to once more smack me soundly about the head and shoulders.. (I'll Just call this person Bob) to me it felt quite sudden and i was stunned... but as I felt the emotions ebb over me.. I realized it was nothing new.. I just didnt expect it to be such a big deal... I had forgotten the intence feeling of pure hatred washing over me via Bob. and the insane "reason of opposites".. I had tried to be of support to someone I viewed as a good and true friend... Bob had gone through a difficult time. Aparently, at least in Bob's book, i suck at good advice and should have realized it sooner... like as in before I thought that my support was actually something that was wanted. I had forgotten. I had forgotten all about the ill-feelings toward me, voting instead, to remember what a good solid friend this person was. Some things have changed.. some things, aparently, have not. I truely, am sorry, that after all this time, its still a fresh wound to Bob. Beyond that, I wont even try to give advice for moving on.. to anyone but me. I choose not to encounter this toxicity in my life anymore. I chose to take my own 'good advice', and move on. Short of the jitters and a few tears, I got over it. I recall now, some of those feelings of hatred in my life... from other sources. they are like a sad echo.. stuck behind me in the past.

I suppose that would be the beauty of losing one's memory. you forget the angry pain as well as the mountain of regret. edit/update... learned something I was -really- slow to realize today... I seem to have the avengers 'banner' for a trivia partner... he has a secret i was slow to figure out. some people in this world really are... always angry. truely, that can't be good for thier health. its really a sad to realize as well. Is it possible to have high blood preasure and be anemic at the same time? Does a person have to be born with autism, or can it be aquired over time? .. can a person get autism though one's parents if they dont have it? I watched a video the other day who spoke of such things.. having a hidden autism... and the signs to reveal it. i did fit that idea. well.. for certain I'm an overthinker.... at least it sounds a bit less of a clinical thing.

A game in Particular..

Minecraft... aquatic (1.13) has been a great version thus far. I'm loving the new books/enchantments and the underwater decor. But for the longest time, I have been frustrated by being unable to check out the new 1.14 snapshots being hailed as villages and pillages. my loony computer kept telling me the graphics drivers were up to date.. yet they were, as it turned out, about 4 years out of date. I finally updated my ninny intel graphics drivers and the game finally let me into the latest snapshot.. and before I knew it, most of my poor villagers had died.

The hills were alive and squirming with the sound of raiders.. and i'd only been in town .. nay, in the game, for about 4 days. Now, I hear, mojang artists gleefully going on about how the pillagers have learned how to open doors. heck, my poor villagers have yet to learn to run indoors when they are attacked! the golem died first thing, and after all that effort i took, trying to get him to come home from his hillside jaunt. even though, i had fences up, they still mananaged to t-port inside and I must have racked up quite a bad omen score because I had like 3 groups knocking things and villagers over and I had not even had the time to check out the villager trade system changes or find a spider to beat on for the string to make a bow with.

After all that...horror, I have come to the conclusion, we need an option to turn off pillagers... either that or I will be spending quite a bit more time hanging out in peacefull mode. sheesh

The only way for it, seems to be peaceful mode. even on easy I quickly get overrun with pillagers. even with walls up, the determened nasties pop up inside of the villages to wreck thier havoc on all but the peaceful mode. so setting traps outside the town only catches the traveling merchants and drives village prices into the omg mode. its either that or ignore all villages and do my best to secure against the patrols on my own. Which is really sad because I consider villagers the single best combat vs the game's general lonelyness. (if that makes any sense)

Well, here's hoping they either outlaw pillagers showing up inside villages or create a means of turning the pillagers off before the update officially launches. it's either that or i now have another reason to feel stuck in an old minecraft version.

Writing gots and not gots

Once upon a time...  What a way to start... There was a writer called peaches.. She was great with intros and short story starts.. But her attention wavered into the boredom zone fairly quickly and she never quite completed anything significant.. She came close though..once. With a simple illustrated book.

Her proudest moment came with the invention of notebook wars between her and good friends.. During which many a page was filled during a most satisfying year or so.

Then disaster struck her life and she found herself living too far away from the friends she valued.. (More than she realized at the time, i assure you.) And feeling alieniated due to an intrusion of several judging eyes into her -in the moment- most private thoughts.. That really none could hope to truely understand (not even her... 10 mins after she thought it)... And she was horribly scarred by the incident for years. Still.. And perhaps none-the-less... She loved to write. At first, she thought to be a whole lot more careful.. Mindful even, of her deep smarting scars and how others can so easilly misunderstand.

She first tried starting a writing group but it was laid low by a lack of interrest. Still.. With it in mind.. She started a "semi-guided" writing group online.. Thinking if she just.. Started off with background and a set-in-wool idea.. It could be fun.. There was some interrest and a senario was started.. Establishing the parameters a bit more firmly, she thought.
It was to be a survival theme.. With the cats musical as a base background ... The characters would be people portaled in by an unknown force.. And transformed into humaniod cats. The setting was a forest.. Much like a real life enviroment. Only.. No tech.. And no people in the area. The cats first story start was a hungry encounter with a huge boar... then they successfully had food.. .. And then something went wonky with the sudden arival of high fantasy and the whole group quickly disintegrated. Thinking it was likely due to her own poor explainations..perhaps not being clear enough.. She wandered the net for a time.. Looking for another group she could perhaps fit into.  Around in that same time frame.. She found first.. A group of writers basing thier world off a game. It was great fun for quite some time.. Before the writers headed off for fairer skies.. She tried nearly in vain to keep in touch with several of them... And she found another group in unlikely waters.. Basing thier world off of an anime ninja theme.. With a scattering of cannon characters. That too was great fun but seemed a dying breed really. When it desolved, peaches was once again on her own. And speaking of dying breeds, She was also at one distant past moment.. in a text world.. Lending her talents of description to its configuration... Perhapes the most fun shed ever had.. Making room descriptions so beautifully detailed.. It took a slloow walk through to really get the story woven into it..room by room... Although you didnt have to read everything.. You could just rush on through. As many would. There were, however, many hidden objects you were sure to miss if you didnt. And then.. The fun was spoiled by internal politics and an ex- friend who went on a power glut.
Just as well though.. As the text worlds were a truely dying thing and now.. Its more nostalja then it is a living fantasy world anymore.

A closed chapter later and presto! Here i am with my own blog.. For the same "no reason," reasons to exist as it was when it was started so many years ago. Just lil ol me chanting dustbunny rhythms into the general void of the net as usual.

And looking out the window from my little niche in this void.. I can see what seems to be the world around the anchor in chaos. Peoples seems to have gone a little more insane this year then ever was before.

There is a rather colourful character that has somehow managed to not only ticc everyone off at least once but also has managed to squeeze into a top dawg status. Guess if so many sought changes from what was before.. They did get thier wish.. For good or ill. I wonder whatll happen next.... Hmm..

Reciently, theres a dark side and a light side.. Who came to blows on the street.. The top dawg said both sides were at fault.. And i agree.. It takes at least two sides with opposing views to make for an argument. one side then stretched into the realm of intolerance and suddenly the whole area is scrambling in efforts to not be associated.

One can hear the cracking of glass from where I stand... Sounding like thunder as the words scrawl themselves across the wall and formed peices of beautiful art in stone is being toppled and trampled upon.

Be aware.. And Beware of complaining about the splinter you see in others eyes.. When theres a log in your own. I should know. Ive kept warm through many a winter from the descovery of those flippin logs! Aint no wonder i have bad sight!

Anyway.. For all the past mistakes of another lifetime.. If i complained and railed against the losses i saw coming, I apologize. All i can really do. .. So I go from here.. Learning as i go along. Even as yet into another chapter.. To go through yet another portal.. And hopfully.. Descover more fun times to be had in the future.

Asheron's calling... pick up the phone!

This is a bit of an update for an old game I learned to love. Asheron's Call. It seems the powers-that-be for this game, have pretty much given it up.. even as there is still a fairly tenacious player base.

They are no longer updating with new content... since about 2000something. just.. keeping up the maintenance is all they are doing now.. i think.

I would say it has gone FTPlay.. but it hasn't really. you still have to pay a $10 fee to get into the game.... or about double that to -maybe- rescue old characters if you have them.

Which sucks to me. I have been away from Asheron's Call for so long now, I couldn't even hope to recall the info I might still, by some stretch of a miracle, have in their login severs. I do recall character names... not that I think that would help. (Although, it did for Everquest2, which I think I had truly the best experience in getting through, what could have other-wise been a serious headache for me, as well as the folks attempting to find my account. Seriously.. the person helping me found it straight away! I was really impressed!)

I remember Indy the best of my household there. It was during the time, just following the addition of the blue-skinned player race. She was clumsy, thought she was an Angel who had, lost her wings.. was always falling or jumping off of things. She had even been interviewed once by someone called Snowimp. (see the story here.)

It was christmas time.. and she was in a little snow village with the guild leader, beating on big naughty snowmen. Second in household command, was the original me. where Indy took the most deaths title, I took the title for the most ridiculous deaths. Indy fell off mountains, died via verindi or a winged sprite, I died due to thrown snowballs. -sigh- Well, I loved home lots more then running errands anyway. I miss ol Belmont a lot. He was like a big protective and huggable teddybear to me. I miss Odin and other friends I knew there as well. ah Dereth.. I wonder what all has changed since I have seen your wondrous explore-worthy expanses.

Neverwinter

Hello, and welcome back to another exciting round of Find That Well-put-together "Free To Play" world. This time, the portal swirled into existence and dropped me off in the city of "Neverwinter". No, thats not "Neverwinter Nights"... but yes, it is the same city name. At first I managed to get totally lost in this sprawling city, located, i believe, on the side of a steep hill. Man, those steps were killer! Right away there was a lot to do and no help to be found anywhere, But eventually I blundered me way through, making like a certain silver-haired paladin being wild with a mace and shield.
I was thankful to eventually get a little assistance in the form of an over-eager-to-please healer I called Chance. But i dunno for just how long his usefulness will be to me. I even utilized a loaner horse for some of those longer trips outside the city.

(It's dark because the game seems to lack a screenie ability on my computer, so I had to pause the game to use a snipping tool, and pausing makes the game go all dark. Screenshot folder? nopesir, never found a single one listed anywhere on my win8 computer os in connection with this game. As you might be able to tell, the text commands under the lower bar, are teensy. far too small for my, by now, tired eyes to make out. You are unable to change those and your movement keys... and its totally not made for a lefty ... which I am. so.. left hand is needed on the mouse for fine control and right on the wasd keys... jump is on the space bar behind my right hand... no thumb on that side... makes jumping forward a little hard to do for me. They -really- need an in-game HELP just to show just what keys do what things, and particulars on just how to augment your gear and train the companion. Oh, and what the fleep is with the purple boxes requiring me to buy something, showing up in my rather limited inventory every-time I turn around?!)

Other then that though.. it's a lot of fun.. if you run out of quests.. or you need another level to get onto the next one, check out the 'foundry' quests located on the city billboards. The loot found in them is random for your level, as is the quest itself, but the stories.. of the ones I have so far tried, are quite good..

toothy woes, Gojira roars

Been having issues with a trio of bad teeth since spring break's end. blew up the right side of my face like a chipmunks cheek food storage pouch. Ended up having to have them removed.. so now having to deal with that and several stitches. thankfully my teacher is understanding. I got reassured and my absences were excused. I'll have to hop-to on my homework though if i care to catch up. edit: now, why is it that that huge load of tutorials i have for reference, will not answer my questions!!?
I dropped my govt class. was causing the worst stress! Still have a history class to make it through.. already have several test fails to somehow make up for. think i can do it though.
edit: oh yeah, I gots a certif of academic achievement in the mail the other day, seems last semester won me a dean's paper of honor. lol! i tacked it onto the cork wall board and giggled over it for a time. betcha my adviser would be steamed if she saw that.

Been biding my heal time watching old Godzilla movies. (gojira is short for gorilla and whale. hence why he kind of looks a bit like an ape, and is often first seen in the water, which he breathes, right?) I love these old films! I wonder if anyone has ever done a picture and data list of all the monsters Godzilla has come against.) edit: there is! try the -link- here!

favs thus far.. Tokyo s.o.s., Final war, and am laughing it up with Godzilla's revenge.

A little bird has flown the nest and I already miss the ticcing of keys at the table next to me. :(

and, since I am on the woes portion of this post... losing another friend this evening. one I have known for many years too. At first I thought to befriend him, then to defend him, then when it became tested, i thought to advise him... he ignored me, and thought to push around me to others I care about. It's finally enough. I'm done. There is still politeness to be had, graceful steps to be taken. But enough is enough,.. after all this time. There really is nothing more i want to do.

Oh and Mabinogi?.. Fix your graphic card issues! Many of the PC laptop OS's running windows 8 cannot play the game at all! and Don't give me the whole "roll back yer own card drivers" claptrap. it doesn't work. we'd have to roll them back beyond the working ability of several programs already on edge of non-running status for win8 just to get the game to work. so, update your own driver requirements! My laptop can see far better graphics then mabi has just fine, no complaints, no issues. so why You giving me grief huh?

mehs, blehks and a cool pic

Hey there. school isn't going to hot but well... there ya are... hope i make it to another semester without having to pay through the nose for my class failures... some grant.. ever hear of a gift you have to pay back? still sounds like a stinky loan to me. Classes are all right.. i guess.. dismayed with my history and government classes though. gov teacher speaks legalese on his tests... can't understand much at all of what he's trying to ask. history isn't fairing much better, even though she seems nice enough.. maybe its the online-ness of it all. 3d class is kinda fun.. even if it is just trying to learn an expensive huge program that I don't have a chance in hey of affording. Guess that's the way of it though.

Sobbing real tears for the spent spring break.. i have only just started relaxing! Why couldn't it be just a tiny bit longer?!

Been in the worlds of mabinogi a fair bit this semester.. and in dragon nest. don't seen to have enough time for eq2... heard they have changed company hands... sure hope its someone who cares a bit about the game.. enough to keep it alive with actual updates.... instead of sitting on it until it truly dies. (shades of creatures 3 and docking station... poor thing.. such a good game too)

dragon nest has changed a lot since i last was there.. added 3 new classes, changed the crafting system .. added fishing and cooking O.O some terribly confusing things in that. crafting is confusing.. i know they tried to make it simpler.. and I applaud them in the effort. just.. uh... the spark thing, i'm lost. picked up a plate the other day, and it required a diamond splinter.. I mean fragment.. only they don't drop those anymore. hrm.. still kinda funny to be sent in-game mail from npc's. Who else does that? Love their sense of humor. hehe

Lancea - dragon nest

edit - update

well, as my luck goes, I do have the day off. fault being, a tooth decided on a quick abscess
into my cheek, last night, and the earliest i could be seen by a DDS is tomorrow. so here I sit hopped up on drugs (Aleve, I love you!) and feeling like i have a balloon plastered to the right side of my face. Went to the store and could feeeel the stares so.. no, not going anywhere but the dentist tomorrow, and hoping for antibiotics.

I miss ceramics class. people might seem real.. but its really only temporary. unless you somehow manage to retain an actual friend. Still, some of the teachers have amazingly real personalities. Ms Green was the best. lol! visiting another classroom just for hugs and giggles. Embarrassing yet surprisingly fun. ^.^ I won't soon forget her. I really like my 3d class as well... love the nifty program... feels like a lot of work though. ..and so expensive.. don't know when I'd have the chance outside of the class, to use these new skills anyway.

too loopy for dragon nest this evening. most of the rest of the household has gone a little manic with that world. Lol! guess it was time.. or something. I've only been talking about it for... some while now.
amazingly splashy kill-em-good skills and a bit of fast action.. where you can't even see what you are attacking at times. just keep swinging and hope one of those hotskills hits the intended big bad guy.

Tera First - step right up

Listening to: "Kiseki" by GReeeeN, "Every Single Day" by Shower
Watching: Murder She Wrote Reruns, ongoing dramas
Playing: Tera
Reading: random blogs, Youtube
mood: Neutral
Latest Topics of Interest: The Rather funny and random directions that spammers take. How to increase comments on a blog and getting the word out there.. come see this site!! :D

Not long ago, I was introduced to a new portal going to a place called Tera. At first it was a crimp really. It's a Huge world, which meant for a loong wait in transit... and then, when I'd finally arrived.. I couldn't seem to view it properly at all. Made my eyes hurt just to read the too small writing on the signs. *rubs eyes* and I wasn't too sure I wanted to stay. I nearly didn't.
As it turns out though, several of my Mabinogi guildies had also located the same portal and helped me to adjust things a fair bit.

So I figured to stick it out a bit longer. Finally having adjusted settings adequately and getting used to things enough to get around, I wandered from this place to that, doing the random quest, and clumsily falling off of the random cliff, doing the occasional face-splat into rocks or trees.. and all too often, backpedaling -into- monsters while trying to keep distance from yet -other- monsters(!!) fortunately, the race I chose is rather adept at running away.

So far, it's a lot of fun exploring and.. knowing there is soo much more yet to be seen is so exciting to me! I understand there is crafting and enchanting available, still haven't figured out much more then extraction and the expense of refinement. >.< Overall, though, this place seems worthy, even for the addition of one small Elin archer.

It seems they have the right idea for what free-to-play should mean. (free-to-play.. all the way through.) The detail is amazing.. maybe not as ooooo'ish as Aion had.. but really pretty nice. General gameplay reminds me a fair bit of the worlds of Warcraft and Everquest 2... as well as the mouse-drive camera weirdness of Dragonquest.. which takes a fair bit of getting used to for me.

As something of a solo artist, this game is very worth checking out. just.. watch out for the little silver poke-balls next to the monsters names. Party monsters are freakingly nasty.

Remember:
The lag monster is alive and well! Have a care, lest you find it chewing on yer heels.

ano...

Listening to: Nightmare Before Christmas ost, The Piano Guys
Watching: Drama- Vampire Prosecutor 2
Playing: Dragonnest
Reading: reading? um.. this post?
mood: slightly under the weather... which is too sunny for my liking.
Latest Rant: a little disgruntled over the new editing hoops to jump through on blogger. for example... the fact that the sideline pull out for labels goes out too far and offsets the main editing window with no way of getting it back to normal size. Also, the labels themselves, has a way to 'select' up to 10 labels... but no way to 'exclude' up to 10 labels. and.. while there is a way to preview posts you are editing, there is no way to see the post you were working on after it has been posted. This is especially annoying if the post you are working on, happens to be an old one.

And while I'm on the soapbox, here's another growl-out for Maplestory.. who -knows- they messed up big time, when they allowed hackers to have access to even the most secure accounts on Nexon.. Even of those who no longer play the game but play others in the Nexon fold. And then, to dare compensate with crap on maplestory only? what the heck? ok ok.. maybe I should be thankful you compensated at all.. but really.. I have zero desire to play that game ever again, nevermind that my computer will no longer even play it anymore. my greatest desire is to totally scrap those maplestory characters altogether and leave my account to the games I -do- still play.

and in a related note... what about "free2play" do most game companies not get? free-to-play does not mean.. free-to-try, not for 10 mins, or 2 days.. or until level 5. It's not a limited thing! Nor does it mean.. Free to Play.. so long as you have money to spend on items needed for additional level kudos or access to special areas to be able to continue the game with. (gasping breath!)
It means that it's actually possible to play clear through the game without spending anything in rl moneys.. But... if you want that spiffy outfit or you simply must have that flashy cool mount.. you can pay for it and look super cool as you head for the 'finish line'. you can also buy power ups or super boosts, or special resurrection tabs to help you on your way.
Not to name names, and yet I just might... but really, guys, get yer act right if yer so determined to play the part. *grumble mumble*

Feeling restless and horribly disappointed in my online game home, I'm once more considering options.. and new portals to peruse. I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes.

gamely (gamey?) musings... euw!

Sitting here thinking about the things I like, and those I do not about the world this new portal led to... which is called Aion.

One of the best things about it is.. the graphics are completely stunning in its complexity!
Even the classic good vs evil theme isn't too badly represented.
The crafting is fairly unique.. if a tiny bit difficult to get started with.
And this is a game that is actively being improved upon all the time, as I understand it. Soon there will be pets, mounts?, swimming, player housing, expanded areas etc..

On the Ehh side of things.. All Roads lead to the abyss, which is esentially pvp-land. Call me a carebear, if you like, even though I never much cared for the toon. I'm not big into pvp.. I have seen, far too often what it can do to friendships. It isn't pretty. Please oh please give us more quests that don't lead to the open battlefield!

Another ehh thing, I have found is.. on the crafting side of things, there is gathering on both land and air.. which isn't an issue.. but.. some of it is on the mobs, now while this might be fine if you are in level range of said mobs... but you know what happens when you grow beyond the mob's level? they stop dropping. So if you are needing a crafting item that just happens to be on, say a crab, but you have grown beyond its level.. you will never again see the item you need to have for the crafting.

update... I ended up leaving this world.. as the rifting got to be a great opportunity for overpowered pvp'rs to enter the area and kill who-so-ever should stray outside one of the towns.. any-one of the towns, and there was no place left for a non-pker, such as me, to level in somewhat safety.

the graphics were sure inspiring though!!!

An old yet new world

A familiar portal opened up a couple of days ago. I, being fairly wizened by now, to the possibilities.. left a marker so I could find my way back, and hopped through the portal. Happy surprises met me at first sight of the jungle trees and craggy hills.. with the sweet sound of surf and the whoosh of wind preceding a coming storm. I was in Timorous Deep! This was one of the first portals I ever got swept through!
This is the homeland of Rata! *I quickly looked around for him, but as usual, the sneaky critter was nowhere to be innocently found. Quite likely, he was holed up in his tree city of fairies. I quickly made a mental note to pay that area a visit soon.

The portal that brought me here was small really. much smaller then I remember. there were soo many limits! limits on race, on class, on bag space even! I couldn't chat out, couldn't send a mail, nor even buy something off the broker... and from the whispers around me, I suspect I might just have a problem concerning limits in magic power level as well. Not to mention, and yet I am, Crafting ~still~ sucks in this place)

One of the big upsides though, for me anyway.. is the straight-on ability to see this place once again! I can still travel around.. to see all of the other places as well.
(Means I can still twirl and sing down the streets of Quenos.. and slink and pray I don't get caught in the perpetual crampt and winding alleys of Freeport.)

Apparently this portal hasn't been in function for very long... maybe as early as last month. So hopefully the powers are still tweaking the do's and don't's... and not just hangin out in the item market. Go check it out!

It was a Mugwump, Professor, honest!

I remember.. a time when I was out on the apprenticeship trail. It felt like a long never ending line to me. Arch-wizard mugwump, said that this was the best thing for me... just before zooming off to the south desert-land and all the sun iced tea he could possibly guzzle. I felt a little abandoned.. even as I faced my fears of unknown situations coming up. Ol Mugwump had given my name out to willing ears without my knowledge...not a new situation, really.
With a great deal of trepidation. I finally arrived at my destination in one piece and met the 'family' which was fairly large. They were dour strangers tho.. and their smiles and welcome were quite temporary. The head wizard was indeed the ruler of the roost and he seemed rather unkempt and none-to-agreeable, although polite enough, I suppose. I was there long enough to wonder again at the fix I may have gotten myself into.. and an episode with several large twisting disasters.
Fortunately, none were hurt that I was then aware of. One evening, as I sat listening to music in my cluttered 'new' bedroom, there came a knock at the door. The local constabulary was there along with some ill-tempered long-nosed female who gruffly insisted I pack my bags immediately. (At least.. I think she was female.)
Having no choice in the matter, I repacked what I could and followed my carried things to the door. It seems the wizard was not fit for mastering.. and had gotten into a fair bit of trouble. and so by my presence there, I was in trouble as well.
I was quickly stuffed aboard a coach, told never to return to the area, and given escort clear to the border like some dangerous unwanted criminal. It was quite the event really. One I don't care to repeat.

In the company of Boober..

When I was really little, my big sis had this rabbit. It had to have been the biggest rabbit ever seen... and for some reason, it thought it was a dog. Boober wasn't the rabbits original name, I don't believe... but my mother caused a change after a neighbor thought she was yelling out that she was in love with him.. as she was trying to call in the rabbit. (I did mention he thought he was a dog, right?) anyway, so boober was his name. It was something of a nasty-tempered rabbit to most.. except to me. boober and I were like the best of friends.. I'd tow him around in typical little kid fashion, lay on him, maul and bowl him over and he didn't seem to mind in the slightest. my brother couldn't even get close to him though, or boober would chase him... all teeth and claws. I am to this day, thankful that he was such a big rabbit, better able to withstand the abuse of little kidlett attention. He was, for a 4-footed sort, my bestest buddy for a time there. his demise came at the paws of a surprise dog pack ambush. I still miss him.
